Set moments from the Glasgow School of Art, Arthouse Glasgow's interiors draw on the city's creative and urban character, pairing original Victorian features with bespoke contemporary and vintage furniture, local craftsmanship and work by Scottish artists.

Inspired by the spontaneity and perfectly imperfect character of an artist's home, the design treats the hotel as an artist's residence, where spaces feel collected and layered over time rather than static, balancing Victorian grandeur with residential intimacy. Each area carries its own character while holding to a quiet consistency of materiality, colour and craftsmanship throughout.

In the arrival areas, restored tiles, stained glass and the building's historic birdcage lift sit comfortably alongside a sculptural timber reception desk and a bespoke pendant light, its brushed metal and opal glass shades bringing a contemporary note to the restored architecture.

The lounge is colour drenched in deep olive green, unfolding as a series of gentle seating settings beneath the building's original arched windows. Wall sconces designed by the studio cast a warm, diffused glow, while bespoke and vintage furniture sit together in easy conversation, creating a day to night place to settle into, whatever the hour.

The restaurant takes a stripped back bistro approach, where reclaimed timber flooring, butter yellow and white walls and exposed brickwork let the building's original fabric remain visible throughout. A zinc topped bar with a hand hammered edge, made by local metalworkers, sits at the heart of the room, lined with teak stools and framed by a back bar and vintage wall lights, alongside further work by Scottish artists.

The hotel's 76 en suite guestrooms span four categories, from compact Pocket Rooms to suites, each shaped by the building's original proportions and set against a lighter, more residential palette, with bespoke lighting by a local glassblower and handmade ceramics by a non profit supporting people with disabilities. Premium and Family rooms rethink the standard hotel layout entirely, with a bespoke dark timber platform bed rotated to face the window, dividing the room into zones for sleeping, working and gathering, so the space unfolds more like a living room than a bedroom
