COPENHAGEN

For Locke’s first Scandinavian outpost, A-nrd created an interior that bridges Copenhagen’s design heritage with the contemporary character of the surrounding district. Set within a bold architectural shell, the approach focuses on softening the scale of the architecture through warmth, tactility and crafted detail, referencing to Nordic design core principles.

The arrival experience is defined by a sculptural reception desk clad in blue-grey volcanic lava tiles, grounded by timber detailing inspired by traditional Danish architecture.

Around it, clusters of bespoke seating introduce a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere. Moving deeper into the ground floor, the space unfolds into a layered lounge environment where architectural joinery, rugs and seating arrangements subtly zone the open plan. Freestanding oak structure rises from peach-toned stone plinths, bringing a sense of human scale and intimacy, while a central wooden sculpture by Danish artist Tilde Grynnerup—whose family has a long-standing connection to the local district—anchors the space and reinforces the dialogue between art and interior.

The lounge transitions into the main restaurant, conceived as an immersive setting shaped by natural textures, layered textiles and planting. Curving joinery screens defines the perimeter, integrating curtains and lighting to soften the space and introduce intimacy. The bar and open kitchen are expressed as two distinct counters, both clad in planked stone with chunky, sculptural timber countertops, creating strong focal points within the room. A central seating island beneath bespoke lighting introduces rhythm and presence, grounding the space in a warm and communal atmosphere.
